Help Protect Killarney Provincial Park
We invite you to help us protect the beautiful wilderness of Killarney Provincial Park so it can be enjoyed by all visitors for years to come.
It's easy - follow the Ontario Parks rules and the simple steps below.
It's easy - follow the Ontario Parks rules and the simple steps below.
Leave No Trace Of Your VisitTake only pictures, leave only footprints, bring home only memories. Resist the temptation to take souvenirs (stones, feathers, artifacts).
Do not cut, remove or harm plants or trees. Removing bark makes trees vulnerable to disease, insects and an early death. Graffiti and Inukshuks are not permitted anywhere in the Park. They are not part of the natural landscape and can also be confusing for hikers who are following trail markers. |
Take Note Of Violations If you see any damage to the natural environment (litter, graffiti, inukshuks, unauthorized fire pits) stop by and tell us about it at the Park office. |
Build Safe CampfiresKnow the Park’s Fire Hazard conditions. During a fire ban, no person is permitted to have a fire. If winds are brisk, we also recommend no campfire.
Keep your fire under control. Only light your campfire when you are ready to use it for cooking or for warmth. Campfires must be attended to at all times. Make sure your fire is extinguished completely before you leave the site. Keep it small (one metre in height; one metre in diameter; three metres below overhanging branches). |
Use Designated Fire Pits Always use Ontario Parks designated fire pits. Building an unauthorized fire pit is a very dangerous practice, and sets a poor example for other Park visitors. |
Dispose of Waste ProperlyDo not litter or leave behind any signs of human interference. Remove and pack out any garbage you come across along the way.
Tie your gear carefully as things that fall from cars onto the highway can injure or kill an animal. Do not turn the Park into your private washroom and leave telling evidence behind (e.g. discarded toilet paper and tissues). Most interior campsites have privies and there are washrooms available throughout the George Lake campground for all visitors. |
Adopt a Trail Stop at the Park office to adopt a trail. We give you a bag; you collect any garbage you find along your way. Come back to the office after to receive a badge. |
