The employees of FOKP work closely with the staff of Ontario Parks at Killarney Provincial Park. It is important that a friendly and harmonious relationship exist at all times. This is an on-site position at the Killarney Provincial Park Office. Accommodations may be provided if necessary.
Who is eligible? Those available for full time work, 35 hours a week, on site. This position is grant funded and qualified candidates must also meet the grant funders requirements including being within the age of 15 to 30 years old.
This role is expected to last for 8-12 weeks during June, July & August with the potential to extend until the middle of October.
Candidates must have reliable transportation to arrive at Killarney Park prior to their start date in the spring/fall.

Responsibilities
Social Media & Marketing
- Manage our social media presence by creating, posting and monitoring online content
- Engage with our visitors online to help them find the information about our organization and park
- Create event advertisements for FOKP's spring, summer and fall events
- Connect with local media and other venues to ensure the information is shared in the surrounding communities
- Provide support to the FOKP online store through updates, new products with imagery in line with Killarney’s atmosphere
- Implement logistic & shipping changes to keep pace with the growing online market
- Search for diverse and unique environmental/educational products
General Operations
- Fundraise with the FOKP key initiatives of Education, Environment and Recreational goals, aligned with Ontario Parks
- Assist in direct marketing and communication strategies, such as social media, to promote the Friends and increase memberships and donations
- Support in execution of on-site events and programs that meet the goals and objectives of FOKP as assigned.
- Provide assistance to members of the public who are interested in purchasing park maps, field guides, and other items available for purchase from FOKP
- Provide information about Killarney Provincial Park and FOKP’s mandate and activities.
Skills Requirements
Technical Skills
- An understanding of online retail management, including but not limited to shipping, tracking sales trends and inventory replenishment
- Experience with Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Canva & Mail Chimp
Leadership Skills
- Knowledge of Killarney Provincial Park and area and its associated natural and cultural resources is advantageous. The successful candidate however must be committed to a continual program of learning and development related to the Park and community.
- An understanding of non-profit administration is considered an asset.
- Mediating and negotiating skills to deal with normal and special situations are important.
