Outdoors Are For Everyone
The Outdoors Are For Everyone Campaign launches the newest Friends of Killarney Park fund, the Outdoors Are For Everyone Fund (OAFE), dedicated to expanding the accessibility of the outdoors.
The OAFE was created in acknowledgment of the barriers that folks may experience when accessing outdoor recreation spaces. Our goal is to recognize the inclusivity of nature and welcome everyone with diverse lived experiences and identities to enjoy Killarney Provincial Park.
This initiative is an invitation for you to partner with an Organization that is dedicated to funding projects which support the goal and vision of the campaign, and ensuring that everyone is welcome in the Outdoors of Killarney Provincial Park!
Consider partnering with us in keeping Killarney a lovely place for people to be welcomed into as you learn more about our current projects below!

Outdoors Are For Everyone Funding
This initiative presented FOKP with an opportunity to make OAFE Funding available to other Organizations who are interested in partnering with us, support the OAFE Campaign, and feel that the goals of their projects are in line with our vision and mandate as an Organization. In recognition of other Organizations that hold the same values as FOKP and the OAFE Campaign, FOKP has committed to a modest budget for Organizations to apply for funding for their events. Although not necessary for funding approval, ideally the events would be held within Killarney Provincial Park.

Voyageur Canoe Experience 2026
Projected Start Date: Summer 2026
Following the popularity and interest in the George Lake Guided Paddle, the Discovery program at KPP plans to offer a Voyageur Canoe experience on Chikanishing Creek to the entrance of Collins Inlet. The Killarney Discovery Team will continue to offer the guided paddle on George Lake, and intends for this alternate program to be complementary. This program would be thematically rich, allowing the Discovery Team the opportunity to discuss the history of this route, including the original Indigenous name of Killarney, the continued stewardship of Indigenous people in this area, voyageur and fur trade history, and the importance of Georgian Bay. In particular, guiding in a Voyageur style canoe will allow less experienced paddlers, or folks without any paddling knowledge (or equipment) to participate, making it more inclusive, as it eliminates a knowledge and financial barrier to access.
The OAFE Fund committed to raising $10k to contribute to this project by August 2025, and this goal was met!
Total Funding used for the Voyageur Canoe Programming: $30792.10 with $10k from the OAFE Campaign
